HROA AGM and DInner 2019 - Booking Now Open

HROA Members and their Guests are invited to our Annual General Meeting, to be held on Friday 4th Jan 2019 at the Royal Thames Yacht Club

The AGM will begin at 1800 and will be followed immediately by the award of the Association’s Trophies.

The cost of the 3 course dinner, including coffee, mints and a tip will be £49 per person. The committee has agreed that the Association will again meet the cost of wines to accompany dinner (one bottle per couple) which will be pre-ordered and served during the meal. Members may invite guests to the dinner, but our formal AGM is for members only. A cash bar will be available in the Club’s Britannia Bar from 1730.

Our after dinner speaker will be the BBC presenter and author Chris Eakin, who’s book ‘A Race Too Far, the story of the 1968 Golden Globe Race’ chronicled the success of Robin Knox-Johnson, and the sad end of Donald Crowhurst in the famous single handed non stop round the world race. Relaunched this Summer from Brittany, the Golden Globe 2018 has already encountered serious challenges for the race fleet, seeing many retire with mast and wind vane damage, and some hit the front pages with international rescue efforts in the Southern Ocean. As we all sit down for dinner in the splendid comfort of the Royal Thames, any of those boats still competing should be about to 'round the Horn'.
