HROA Spring Rally 2019

Challenging weather failed to deter many members who braved 40 plus knots across the harbour to head to RSolYC for the rally dinner

Challenging gale force winds on the Saturday failed to put many off form our traditional Spring Rally held at the beautiful harbour of Yarmouth, and hosted in the delightful surrounding of the Royal Solent `yacht Club.

Those that had the time cunningly got their boats into the classic Solent harbour earlier in the week before the winds began to build late Friday and Saturday. A few members who struggled to get away from commitments that early made it as far as Cowes before it all got a bit Southern Ocean out there and wisely headed for the Medina, joining us by taxi for the dinner at the club. It would have taken a Cape Horner to fight the 40 plus knot winds that came through fairly consistently over the Saturday evening turning the Western Solent into a washing machine, so those who had left it to join us by boat on the day simply got the Wight Ferry.

Friday saw a blowy pontoon party where the chill of the cold winds were melted by the warmth of the company!

We may have been a little down on numbers compared to some years past, but the company was excellent, the food some of the best we've had on any of our rallies, and the refreshing friendly relaxed air of the delightful Royal Solent was second to none as usual. A huge cheer for organisers Sue Ross, our Social Sec, and Kathy Saunders, our peerless Voice Commodore!
